What Causes a Nervous Stomach?

For a long time it was thought that folks who suffered from digestive issues were extra sensitive types. That their emotional-ness triggered symptoms like stomach aches, sensitivity to certain foods and changes in bowels.

The vagus nerve is a major nerve that travels between the brain and the gut allowing communication between these two areas of the body. What we are discovering is that via this communication pathway, bacteria that resides in the digestive tract can influence our mood & emotions, as much as our mood and emotions can influence how we digest our food.
